New Brunswick employers must appoint and train enough designated first-aiders, scaled to workers per shift and 'high hazard' status (Schedule A of the First Aid Regulation): e.g. 2-25 workers per shift needs 1 Basic-level first-aider for non-high-hazard work, or 1 Intermediate-level for high-hazard. Employers must also assess risks and provide additional supplies, services and facilities (s. 4(3)).

New Brunswick Regulation 2018-11 under the Early Childhood Services Act (s.11(a)) requires every administrator and educator to hold both a valid first aid certificate and a valid CPR certificate. Oversight rests with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, which treats these certifications as a condition of working directly with children.

In New Brunswick the Volunteer Emergency Aid Act (RSNB 2016, c 17) protects a person who voluntarily and without expectation of compensation renders emergency first aid or medical services at the immediate scene of an accident from liability for resulting damages, unless caused by gross negligence. There is no legal duty to rescue and no dedicated defibrillator statute — lay AED use falls under the Act's general immunity.

Nurses in New Brunswick (regulated by the College of Nursing of New Brunswick and ANBLPN) must complete an annual Continuing Competence Program with no fixed number of hours, and clinically relevant training such as BLS or CPR can be included in the CCP learning plan. In hospital and long-term-care settings a current BLS or CPR certificate is generally an employer requirement rather than a licensing condition.

In New Brunswick's nursing homes, special care homes and community residences (foyers de soins), staffed by resident attendants and support workers, the Resident Attendant program requires a CPR certificate and an Emergency/Advanced First Aid certificate as graduation requirements. A recognized, up-to-date first-aid/CPR certificate meets this expectation, in addition to the worker's occupational training, and must be renewed periodically.

In New Brunswick, family foster care is approved by the Department of Social Development under the Family Services Act, following background checks and a home assessment. A current first-aid and CPR certificate from a recognized organization is commonly required as part of caregiver preparation, expected under departmental practice rather than fixed by a single explicit statutory clause.

Online CPR and first aid training is recognized in New Brunswick, providing legitimate, evidence-based certification for personal knowledge, childcare licensing or employer requirements. The practical portion of CSA levels is normally completed in person, and certification is valid for 3 years.
